Default 20' or 22' paddles?

Im Currently running 20' Sand stars and 22' sand stars fronts. Im still running the stock swingarm. I see alot of you guys
are dropping a tooth and running 22' rears. Whats the trade off. It sounds like your just trading one for the other. Please
explain.

Also if anyone has a set of 22' haulers ect. Pm me

Well I run 22" extreme haulers and run 15 - 43 gearing and it works real good with the mods that I have. I ride with some guys that run 20's as well and with different gearing they run just fine as well. The only advantage to the 22's that i can think of right off the top of my head would be they float on top of the sand a bit better.

I used to run some sand geekos, and got stuck everywhere i went. I switched to some 22" extremes and am very pleased with the results, however, still running stock gearing. I find that I am constantly shifting between 2 and 3rd gear in the dunes.

I think dropping a tooth allows you run around more in 2nd?

Sandaholic runs 20' haulers.

how do u like the sand stars?

The 22's in the rear work very well for the Ds. With the stock swingarm I was running 22's with 15/43 gearing. The 20's I had worked but like Dsaholic said, the floation with the 22's make a big difference.

Well, I went to 22's and 14/40 gearing with a stock swingarm and the bike performed extremely well with 2nd gear launches.

Scatterbrain, by making the tire taller, you get more rubber on the ground and thats a good thing for hook up. If you do that, you'll have to offset the change the tire makes - tall gearing! When I was very young we used to ride ATC90s (ok, I know Im old ) and used to blow up the baloon tires to make them go faster down the hill. The problem was going back up the hill! LOL So, in your case, to offset the tall tires, you need to change the sprockets to get as close to stock gearing as you can. The 15 tooth front sprocket with 43 rear sprocket and 22" tires is about the same gearing as the stock 16 tooth front sprocket and a 40 tooth rear sprocket with 20" tires. Some switch to the taller tires and want to go a bit higher gearing and simply switch out the front to a 15 tooth with 22" tires. Slightly shorter than stock gearing would be with the 14 tooth on the front with 22" tires. I hope that clears it up. There are gearing calculators out there that help with this located www(DOT)ds650(DOT)net

You're welcome but I can't take credit for the information. I stole it from Eaglecollector's web page. The credit goes to Larry.

Hey Keith, I might have a set of 22" kevlar 10 paddle hauler extremes on 190 itp's off my turbo DS you could use for dune fest if you want... I doubt that my TCS shocks will show up in time and I still have no swingarm. Just NO burnouts on the pavement.... I do need you to haul somthing over and give it to the HPR boys if you do make it over. I will call you about that though..... Don
