There's a local ATV Rodeo at the fair thats having a drag race event. Its on a regular dirt track like demilition cars are on. I wasnt sure if anyone had any tip such as what gear to start in and where to shift. All the mods I have are in my sig. if that helps. The race is tomorrow, I dont know if theres any other little thing i can do to the DS to do a little better. Im also going to do the obstical and barrel races.

2nd gear launches work well. Stay forward on the tank. And Goodluck.

If you get your suspension dialed in after a couple of test passes you should do quite well if you do what 1Big told ya. Good luck and let us know how it goes..

Well, suspension has a lot to do with weight transfer upon the launch off the line in turn contributes to the traction that the bike gets on the holeshot. Now this will all depend upon rider weight, track conditions, length of swingarm and tires. You will have to adjust your suspension on the front and the rear accordingly.

Well the track conditions will be muddy, it might even be raining during the event. (been raining all week due to the hurricane with a 30% chance tomorrow)

I'm 5'8 at 140 lbs. The DS has the stock swingarm with 20" regular Razr rear tires and the stock front tires. I dont if that would help point me in the direction of the suspension. Also if i launch in first would it be better to tach to about 5k rpm and pop the clutch. i know i won't get enough traction to wheelie since its hard to even do that with dry ground.

You might have to sit back. The trick is to get just enough to lauch it but not stand her up. Try second and try not to spin alot. Once you are out of the hole slide back to keep the weight over the tires. Dont run your tires with to much air. Try to make them soft so they will track up. This sounds like basic stuff but every liitle bit helps. As you are going down the track dont let off the gas just just hit the clutch to shift and hold on. Good luck

Launching in 2nd you have a longer gear to pull. You dont have to shift as early. Sometimes that shift is the difference in a close race.
