Default need help with finding valves shims

I'm going to checking my valves tomorrow and I know i'm gonna need new shims. I heard you can get them from a yamaha dealer, and i know they will look at me like a confused dog if i just say its for a ds. So what yamaha or honda machine are they in? Thanks for the help guys.

I get mine from this site Dual Star A lot cheaper then what a dealer sells them for. What you want are 29mm diamater shims. The KLR 650 uses the same shims. Sorry But I don't know what Yahama model uses the 29mm shims. Buit if there is a Kawisaki dealer near you your good to go also. Prolly be around 10 bucks a pop from a dealer though.

Default need help with finding valves shims

When my brother adjusted his valves 2 months ago it was out of adjustment & needed some shims. He took his shims to a local BWM dealer to get to right ones & the dealer just exchanged his used ones for his used ones @ the right thickness for no charge. The local BWM dealer is great to work with the parts that are the same as the DS650. My brothers DS starts like it should after the valve adjustment.

If you have a local BMW dealer, you can try them but don't except to get the same deal. They should have to shims you need in stock in a quick fix.

My brother also used eagle's web site to adjust his valves with success.

Im very glad that it is helping. That's what it's there for and that is what this fourm is all about for the most part any way. I knew nothing about the DS until I started asking questions on this forum. So if my tutorials are in error it's ya alls fault for not getting me to listen better...lol

Annihilater, since your here in Vegas, if you run into shim issues, just let me know. I'll exchange them for you like the above mentioned BMW dealer, and I've got just about every size there is.
