But that's my nature and besides where else can I get so many great real world opinions.

So I'll ask the question:

Which carb is better the Lectron 44mm or the TM45? Which is easier to tune and is less finicky?

By the way the performance mods are MrHp 12:1 piston and HR3 cams. Big Gun CDI and HMF pipe.

Oh I can't wait to see what's coming now.....lol

here's a safe answer to that, yes the ____ is better than the ________. I like my TM have no complaints , can't say if its 'better'than a lectron but it works good for me.

I have both and my opinion is the TM is better for alcohol and the Lectron for gas. The Lectron seems to hold its tune. The elements such as heat and altitude dont seem to effect it as bad but they are pricey. I heard they are a nightmare to tune from scratch. Mine came from HPR and were right on when delivered. They are pricey partly because you have to order the throttle and cable where the TM works with stock. I personally cant get the TM tuned on gas worth a crap but on alky its a little more forgiving and runs good for me. Just my 2 cents

I really like my FCR's. The bike starts up easer than it did when I had the TM45. . . probably because of the accl. pump on the FCR's (didn't have it on the TM45).

It seems to be the FCR's don't get effected by altitude as much as other carbs. The FCR's are easy to jet (I think the TM 45 was easier) but, neither is difficult. . . my Wife's Raptor on the other hand. . . Pain in the A$$. . . (no wonder they went to EFI on that P.O.S.)

The new self adjusting EFI by KMS sounds like a hot ticket too.

I've never run the Lectron so, can't give you a comparison.

I need to get my bikes on the dyno so I know if I am set up right or not. I'm sure it will be worth the Dyno Time in $$$ for the HP gain.

The largest is 41mm, but they have an accelerator pump.
Thus would have 1mm larger bore. Stock with butterfly flows about 40mm.

For quite a while most of the big bores were running the dual FCR's.

The FCR is the carb of choice for most bikes / quads these days.

The YFZ450 / YZ450 / WR450 all use the FCR (single) on the bike.

Is the MIKUNI HSR45 the same as the TM-45 everyone is talking about?

the ONLY difference between the HSR and the TM is that the TM has an aluminum collar on the front to make it fit the space on the DS between the air boot and the manifold perfectly and provide a more secure mount.
Oh, that and the Pumper comes un-adulterated by RWR and fully intact - like it Should be. But you can get the TM from RWR with pumper fully intact, they just think its useless and they always recommend getting rid of it, but that is a mistake.
