Hi Guys,
I just noticed I got an 80 dollar helmet to protect my priceless Head ! ???? right ... Anyway I got it thrown in at the time of bike purchase am looking to getting something a little better and that might even match my 04 DS color scheme.

Any Suggestions?

I like how the new helmets have washable liners as I am still pulling sand out of my current helmet.
I also like how some of the new helmets have a dirt / dust vent that extends up from the nose to the goggles....

Are the 500.00 Dollar Troy Lee design helmets that much better than say the 300.00 dollar helmets? ?

FYI ... I ride lots of dunes some times at high rate of speed (WOT) but don't jump a whole lot .... Getting TOOOOO old for that.

I would go w/ any helmet that has a Snell M2000 rating or higher, second is comfort nothing like having HELMET thats not comfortable it would be nice if you can try it b4 you buy. I think the high price helmets your paying for the name but thats up to you. HJC, FOX have some cool yellow/ black/ grey color helmets. check out rockymoutainatv they usually have a good selection.

We like the arai helmets because of it being light weight and safe!!!!

 

Go someplace where you can try some on, I would think the bike shops all have the Snell M2000 rating, find one that fits right, and is light, then look for your best deal on line, or Rockymountain ATV, ect. for the color sceme you want. I had a Bomb. helmet, it was comfy, it looked good with the ds, but it is a little heavy.

 

ILivSD what size head do you have? i wear an xxx in my skidoo modular helmet and a xxx in my hjc nat dogg, I have a big head and love how the hjc's fit but when you get to a xxx they are no longer snell rated just dot rated, I wonder why my head is so big? lol [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img] I mean its not deformed or anything just big like the rest of my body hehe, not fat, big boned like momma always said lol

I've steered away from HJC - seems like every one of them I've seen has the molding / trim pieces come off.

I just bought a FOX helmet to replace the one that got busted up when a Sandrail ran into me. I like the looks but, the chin strap comes in a little tight on my neck. . . not sure I like the feel of it. But. . . I won't leave camp without it.

 

Here is a good place for bell helmets, if you check the closeouts you can find last years models for half price or better.

thats funny. I also use a XXXL HJC. when they measure my head at cycle shop, it was off the measuring devise scale. they had to geuss what size. usualy they only have one helmet in the whole shop that will fit my mellon. if I am lucky.

 

I love my Fox. Except sometimes I have to shrug my shoulders and I feel like a turtle. My helmet wants to flip back. I use my shoulder pads to keep it level so I can see. It only happens when I am in a straight-away getting past 3rd gear WFO.
Totally washable inners. That is a must!
