I frequent about 6 different message boards - most of them have a post like this.
Chiknhawk is correct - this is a real waste of time. Unless everyone in America also DID NOT USE THEIR VEHICLES ON SEPTEMBER 10th there is no way that this would have any effect on the oil companies. They are behind on deliveries now, this would be a great way so that they could catch up and have lots of gas available for all the extra demand on the day after a boycott.
It would hurt the local merchants - all those mini marts that really make their money on the products sold inside the store - now they would be hurting. I guess they would also have to send many of the clerks who work in the store home for the day, so they would probably loose out on their near minimum wage job. That would surely get their attention.
But the oil companies - I don't think so.
