Sprocket and Chain Combination Question
#1
Okay, I searched high and low and found all sorts of gearing and tire size combos and chain length and swing arm combos but the answer to my question wasn't there.
Right now I'm running stock sprockets but with all of your advice I have a 14t and a 15t on the way from RockyMountainATV. Both plus S&H was still cheaper than just one size from Chaparral! But I also noticed that they were twice as expensive as all of the other manufacturers. What's up with that. I have an assortment of 20' tires for general desert riding and duning. I've got my eye on the 22' Sand Stars for the future.
Now to the point-Am I going to have to remove links or get another size chain to drop a tooth or two up front? And will there be any differrent jetting or needle setting requirements for the increase in torque?
Really look forward to all of you confusing me more! ha

If you are running 20" tires I wouldn't put that 14t on. You are going to rev so fast you cant change gears fast enough. I run 15t with 22's and love it. I put the 14t on and didn't like it at all. The Sand stars are great. You shouldnt need to do anything to your chain you should have enough adjustment.

20" 16 tooth is fine.
22" 15 tooth is fine on dirt. You might consider the 14 tooth in the sand with the Sand Stars.
You will have enough adjustment without breaking the chain.
