Default High flow water pump

Jed in know, I just had one to many beers last night & went on a rant. I just like to be stealthy with my bike so people have to ask me what I have or done to it. Speaking of stealthy I love your boondockers set up!

All the billet parts that I have bought so far have no logos, but some do have tribal designs. I guess being a DS owner I get frustrated @ the lack of after market parts.

Anyone know how much for a stock water pump impeller?

I know it's not something I need, but my niece only goes like 5mph on her suzuki 80 and the bike does get warm. If I hit 2 at an idel I'll start to leave her. I know the water isn't circulating very fast putting around in 1st. I want alittle better water flow. If it means having more logos on my bike then i'll have to deal with that. The extra flow might even hurt my bike from cooling if it flows faster than it can cool, but i'll never know till I try.

I commend the inventor of this product for the DS....always like to see new inventions for the DS. But, I shouldnt need one since my bike is a dune bike right....

The radiator for the DS is big ... actually its huge with plenty of cooling capacity. The problem is getting the water there. Lots of people that drag the DS in a short drag use very small radiators, about half the stock size, simply because its hard to heat things up to the point of damage in a 4-6 second drag. But if your ride longer than that, it's another story entirely.

OK, I have one question about this product. If I cut the radiator capacity in half and decide to run the hi-flow pump, will this be sufficient to cool at stock motor under drag racing applications?

Choose,

In my opinion if you only drag in short races (4-6 seconds), it wouldnt be needed or nessesary. And I dont think anybody has tested this in a small radiator for long duration run times. The tests that I have seen all involve the stock radiator. I think that there are too many unknown variables such as the water capacity size of the small radiator and type used. Like all race parts, these are things that private builders should consider - especially in your scenario. If I were you and wanted to test it under those "off-stock" standards, you better believe I'd be watching my light and have a temp guage right where I could read it during the test.

So, you think it would be safe to say that I can run the small radiator with the high-flow pump without the fan as long as I watched the temp gauge close?

Im saying that its simply unknown. But if you wanted to experiment, I would encourage you to do that with all your ducks lined up in a row, if you catch my drift.

Choose, I dont run a fan. When the fan circuit come on, it lights a light on my dash to let me know. That way I have a choice, shut down or getmoving. If it gets real hot the other light comes on and says "Shut Me DOWN". Thats with a stock radiator. The water still gets hot, if your not moving to cool it. But when you do move faster, or the fan comes on, it cool faster, so the fan or your speed can reduce. For instance, by the time I got to the top of the hill on the bottle, my light was on, but off by the time I got to the bottom. And while duning, DSa'a, and my brothers fans were on, while my light was still off. It just takes more time to heat it up as long asyou have air flow.
I too will be going to a small radiator next year, so let me know how it works.
