seems the Outy 800 has a new fan. Mike Penland has came over to Bombardier. His first race on one was this weekend if he got it prepared. Now there will be all sorts of race parts for one

Penland got 2nd in the stock class and Kilby got 1st in the mod class. Both on stock 800 as there are no mods yet for them.

So is it a sponsor thing with the racing they do or more rider prefference?

Either way I think its great, I agree there will be mods comming from the partnership. That will give us some mods sooner than later.

I wonder if kilby will go and get the 1000cc or 1288cc sled heads for his modded class machine.

GE4x4, who and what beat mike in the stock class?

Ken Robey on a Prarie 700 beat him by a minute. Ken has won the last tree races and is on a tare. He started the season on a KQ 700, but had a lot of issues and problems. After the 6th race he gave back the KQ and went back to his P-700 and has 1-2nd and 3-1st place finishes. Those Prarie's are hard to beat when set up with a good rider.

It would seem even the stock class is not realy all that stock. What kind of modds are allowed to still be in the stock class. I know the P700's were born to race but that 800 has to be tough to beat, I would think anyway. The top end on a stock clutch that comes on the P700 is limited to about 67-71 MPH and I had herd the 800 has about 10 more MPH on the top and is said to pull alot harder than the p700 in the 50mph and up range. Was mike cought in trafic or was there any problems with the 800 in that race. If kilby can when the modded class with a stock quad going up against Bigbore kits and race moded machines. Do you know enough about the two classes to explain the differenes for me.

Kilby is faster then Penland, but also much younger. But this race was not for big HP quads but for very nimble ones. It was a very tight and dusty race, so whoever got the holeshot had a huge advantage over the others, and that is what Ken did, got the holeshot. Most of the races have many passing lanes, but this one had very few and no real open sections. So it was more of a nimble race then a power race. As far as mods in the stock class go, your not suppose to do anything to it the helps performance, but no one checks so many mod with hidden things, CDI's, clutch springs, higher compression pistons, port and polish, and whatever they can get away with. It's allmost no fun sometimes when you see a stock Prarie pass a fully modded V-force on a straight away and I'm in his class. I've complained a couple times but gone on deaf ears. I'm suppose to Police my own class then petition the officials if I think someone is cheating. Then it makes you look like a whiner. I like running the stock class because I feel it's more rider then how much money is spent on the quad, but that no longer exist. It actually cost more to have a stock quad look and sound stock but be modded, and I see that. I haven't made my dissicion yet if I'm going to continue next year, especially with the gas prices and all the races are at least 10hr one way for me. Except the race in 2 weeks in NY.

Other than a Twist Throttle, Mike Penlands 800 is stock, and Kilby's just has a pipe on it. They were both at Durhamtown Plantation in Union Point, Ga. on Labor Day, for a shakedown run to see if there would be any problems before they raced them. After Kaw. dropped their sponsorship, Bomb. made them an offer they couldn't refuse. They were in fine form at Yadkinville and with a tight trail like that one, alot of it comes down to rider ability. Whenever I get to ride with them, I remember why I stick with C class LOL. About the aftermarket parts, you need to check out Mikes skidplate, rolled edges and full coverage front to back, it skims across mud holes.
GE4x4, were you at the GNCC's last week? I was the guy getting his a** kicked riding an orange 450. Most likely you passed me on the third lap, thats when Penland and Kilby passed me, around mile marker 4. See you at Unadilla.
