any suggestions on what to get or what not to get? I'd love a set of Flexx bars but don't want to spend that much. How are the trail tech X-bars? any other suggestions ?Thanks

Hey cain73,

I just bought the ODP bar and clamp and it looks pretty nice.
No bend probelms with the bar hitting the tank and you have the option for a cross bar or not.
I think for 100 its a good deal with pad bar and clamp.
Check them out.

I saw that kit for the same price. Just wasn't sure how it was. Thanks for the input.

Do most aftermarket bars run the same height and curve or are there options ?

Just about any aftermarket set of bars out there will require a raised bar clamp to clear the tank. Take a look at my pic of the TrailTech setup I recently installed. I have been very happy with them and like the fact that the crossbar is removed on the X-bars making it easier to read the tach.

Thre is definately a lot of options out there in terms of bar height and bend. It all depends on what your looking for.

Good question. Also can you keep the original lever perch and twist throttle?

I have the medium bend with raised bar clamp and my grips sit at about the same height as stock. Maybe a tad taller 1/4" or so.

The trailtech specs are as follows:

31.1" wide
2.44" pullback or sweep
&
low bend = 3.27" height
med bend = 3.74" height
high bend = 4.21" height

The clamp raises your mounting point an inch or so. The website says the clamp with med bend will be about stock height.

Trust me I did research on bars till head was ready to explode, save yourself the time and just get the trailtech clamp with what ever fat bars you want. I got the Tag T2 CR Double Highs which are 32" wide, 2.4" pullback, and 4.55" high and I really like them, actually I wish they were even a little taller, but that is the tallest they make the motorcycle bars. To get taller you would have to go to a quad bar with more pullback >3".

Hope this helps.

Do you need to replace the cables because of the additional height and width if you go with the High Bend?

Mine are about the highest you can get and I still had slack with no binding at full lock.
