Dyno results. HELP!! Questions....
#1
Take a look at my gallery. I posted my Dyno run results from Sunday, 9/18, Sandfest. They not good!!
40.83 HP
36.49 ft lbs. torque.
Okay here is the wierd part. I am running Dynojet jet kit, Dynojet needle in the top groove (tried the needle 3ed position, TOO rich in lower end, caughed and sputterd), Big Gun race sieres full pipe, KN filter. Air box lid off (tried it both ways, not much differance, if any at all).
The bottom line on the run is with a 190 main jet. The top line is with a 200 main jet, both were Dynojet jets.
Look at the A/F ratio!!!!
17 to 1 with a 200 main!! WAY LEAN!! What gives? Any ideas? I have checked the intake boot, manifold, everything, no vacuum leaks. Ideas PLEASE!!!
They are kind of hard to read. I may find a better place to store the scanns and add a link. Let me know if you can't read them.

I am not much help in the ideas department since you already looked for air leaks...but is that last graph on the second page the A/F chart? that line is all over the place. You also have a really bad dip between 3-4k in your torque. Have you cleaned the carb out? I was going to say possibly clogged main, but looks like you swapped them out a few times.
Hopefully somebody has ideas as to what the problem is.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the bottom graph on page 2 is the Air/Fuel. 4 out of 5 bikes that I saw run on that Dyno were lean. I am wondering if it is a problem with the exhaust analyzer.
Yes, I did clean the carb while I was there. Well the bowl anyway. Maybe the whole thing needs to come off.

What was your A/F with the lid on? You obviously made more power with the bigger main jet. Are you sure the engine was rich with needle in the 3rd position? It looks lean to me. Try needle in the richest position with 200 main.

If it makes you feel any better the Dyno at LSPS has been known to show two things. First, as you have discovered, it typically makes a bike look lean. And second, compared to other dyno's around, it seems to read about 5-6 hp lower. Try Phil's ATV in El Reno. He just got a new DynoJet 150 I believe it is. Super nice guy. Good luck!

MisterHP,
I did not try it with the lid on. I ran out of time. I wish I could have. Yes, I am sure it was too rich in the 3ed position, it caughed and sputteres just off of idle and eveywhere accept wide open. It ran fine sitting still, but you get it out on the dunes and it ran horrobly. I put the needle back to the top (lean) position, and it ran great!
Zillarider02,
I was pondering that coming home. It seamed that every bike that was put on there was lean.
I read Oldman racings post, what he sais there makes a lot of sence. I think I will order a new slide before I go modifying mine, just to have a backup. I may try to find a nother complete used carb to do ALL the Mods too. Then re-dyno it and so how the swap helped. It would be an interesting comparison. I'll keep you posted.
Anybody else done anything different?

Thanks, I bid, but is now more than I am willing to pay for an "experiment"
Anybody want to trade a DG Fat Series Swing arm skid (used one in the sand and taken off) plate for a used carb?
Here is a link to the plate.
