Outlander 800 Noise??
#12
my dealer brought over the 800 to see how it would run against my king quad and my twin peaks 700 no comparison it spanked both I got on it and goosed it. I had to hit the breaks and bring the front end down but cold still catch the kq and 700 and pass them with ease. a great machine however i would be alittle concerned in tight trails as this machine would wheelie on command and could be scary in tight trails

The prairie is still a hair better in the fun/sport factor area, but power goes hands down to the Outlander. The Outlander is the new benchmark in big bore sport utes. The New Outlander has the almost as much fun/sport factor as the prairie and rides almost as smooth as the Sportsman doing it. I think it combines the best of the rest and in chassis and handeling but tossing in the big 800 twin and it jumps way ahead of the competition. I feal however if Kawi would bump there motor out to 800 and slap on an EFI drop it in the Prairie/BF650 chassis it would still be a contender and likely my personal prefference. The Outlander can spin around and play unlike any other IRS quad out there but the praire still does that kind of thing just a little better IMO. I am in a unusual position having a Prarie chassis machine with an 800 HO motor (That can out run the Outy) and all three of us were trading off at the dunes last weekend and the Twin Peaks 800 is still our favorite machine for playing around ect, ect. I also preffer the Prairie front suspension over the Outlander, I relize allot of fokes don't like the stuts, but I actualy think the front of the Prairie is smotther than the arm designs out there the outlander included. I am planning to even the playing field by giving my outlander simmilar modds like pipe kit,cdi box, K&N and paddle tires ASAP, then We will race them again and see how the Outlander does when it has simmilar performance modds to my 800 Twin Peaks, I think that might even them up some.

I have that sound too, its kind of a creeky cracking sound just at low speed breaking. They work fine so I have been ignoring it.

Yep, I hear that noise on mine too, sounds normal to me. But I hear another noise on hard braking when almost full stop, sound like cracking noise coming from the front disk brake, anyone else?

I will write a review of the 800 and how it performed on our 150 mile journey through some really, really tough trails and riding. Sneak preview: I am home alive and so is the Outlander. However, the Sportsman 700EFI was not so lucky.

The sound you are hearing is coming from mud or dirt that get on the rotor. I heard a lot of that this past weekend riding on the mountains. But, after they were cleaned off, the were quiet again.

Not really, it was doing it right out of the showroom on asphalt test drives so the rotors where very clean, this explanation does not stand.
I think it is getting quieter the more I use the brakes, maybe have something to do with bedding in the brakes, we will see.
