Remember you do not HAVE to change gearing when going to a 22" tire. it is purely personal preference. Your performance will still be thier with stock gearing. If I were you I would only do 3 things to your DS for the first 6 months. 1) buy a full set of sand tires(for the money Sand Stars are hard to beat). 2) get a slip -on exhaust, or a Replacement end cap, like the one with disks from On dunes performance. 3) get with folks like Oldmanracing and others and jet your stock carb to perfection to get the maost out of your DS.

Most of all just RIDE RIDE RIDE your DS and get used to it, and have FUN. OH, and kiss your wife again for being so damn cool!!!

If a person does buy the open end cap for the DS, does it really make a difference? Or is it all noise? Thanks again in advance!

oh yea there is a difference. i ran a end-cap before i got my hmf. the only reason i went to a hmf is it is lighter than the stock pipe. power on the stock was about the same as the slip on. plus i keep getting fatter so i have to compensate by taking weight off the ds

I run Sand Star 22's with stock gearing and have no complaints.

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes! I have another question for everyone. It looks like my wife had a plan in mind when she bought me my DS. She wants to plan a quick get away trip to the Oregon coast. Where is the best place to go? Florence? Coos Bay? Winchester Bay? This will be are first trip for us. Any info would be great!
