Stock motor with HMF, will a Vortex cdi help?
#1
As stated in the title I have an 04 DS Baja X that is completely stock except for an HMF pipe, no toil air filter and dyno tuned. The problem is it seems like I am bouncing off the rev limiter all the time, especially in 2nd and 3rd gear. I know most will say shift sooner but it seems like it is still pulling and its very annoying. Will the Vortex cdi help? Will I have any problems with it, reliability is number 1.
Thanks,
Josh

I put my vortex on and it works great. There are no problems that I have heard of so far. As was explained to me you want to leave it on map 1(best all around map and rev limiter), then set map 10 for whatever you like. I set mine to the lowest setting for when I let friends ride it. It will help you from bouncing of that rev limiter for sure.

With basically a stock bike I would think it is a bit over-kill. Nevertheless once you have one you will never need to replace it because of the engine modifications you WILL eventually make.....

222 explained to me that when my bike was stock I should be shifting about 7000 rpm, right at the top of the torqe curve. Same advice even after the 730 kit with the stock head. I know it seems like its pulling up to the limiter but the torqe and horsepower drop off after 7000rpm. It doesnt sound like your going faster but you are. The vortex is a great unit but for your setup I think you would be better off spending the money on other upgrades but as Scoundrel has already mentioned it will work with all mods to the you do to the motor later. I dont know of any reliability issues with the vortex mine has worked perfect.
