i got a filter from some internet mower website and it is an inch shorter than the one i got out of the engine it is a K&N and it says it fits bombardier. I left the old one in and i have a new filter that wont fit. Where do i get the right filter from and does K&N make them.

You bought a filter for an older model DS (like mine) you need a newer (after 02 I think) filter. K&N does make em but you have to specify the short or long type. They are cheap just but from the dealer and avoid all the hastle.

Cough up the money for a stainless one, and never have to buy another one again.

Besides, it supposedly works better too.

I bit the bullet and got the Scott's stainless filter and just cleaned it last weekend for the 5th time. NICE!
I change the oil about 12-15 times per year and will save up to as much as $80. Which is about how much the Scott filter costs.
