Default Problems with a Billet Thumb Throttle

I installed a billet thumb throttle (extended) Bought it off someone on the forum, came with the spacer which I am sure goes between thethumb throttle and housing. Tightened the bolt.

If I just push on the throttle normally, everything seems fine, but if I grab the bottom of the thumb throttle, I can move it back and forth with my hand.

Does not seem right that it would move??
Do I add washers??
Any ideas?

You havent mounted it correctly. The square shaped pin must match the throttle arm. You currently dont have the squares lined up.

Default Problems with a Billet Thumb Throttle

Hi cpaul,

I also purchased one of those extended levers.
I don't know if I installed it correctly but the actuation worked great but the positioning of the lever was all wrong.
It killed my wrist as I could not grip the bar correctly. I ended up putting the stock one back on.
Maybe I will try it again I hear you have to move the whole actuating lever over to get the right location ?
Any one else know if this is correct ?

That is interesting, I have heard nothing about the actuating lever, left mine the same.
I worked on this thing for almost an hour last night. Must have re-installed it 15 times! Still has some play if you grab billet thumb piece and rock it back and forth. May be wollered out a bit?
Don't notice it when you are just "on the throttle" will try it and keep the OEM one just in case.

Thanks for everyone's help!
