Can i put a direct mount K&n air filter on my 48hv and connect my nitrous into the back of it? Or do i need to leave the snorkal tube on? Seems like it would be easier with a direct mounted filter straight to the carb leaving out the snorkal so i can lose that half ounce of extra weight.

The Direct mount wont make as much power according to 222. You need the snorkle to help with velocity. I have been through the direct mount idea as far as the boondocker go's. They say that it needs 4' before it goes into the motor so the nitrous has time to dry before it goes to the motor Seems like you would want it to have a much time as possible. I think the loss in power isnt worth the weight. If your concerned about the weight UP THE SHOT!!!!

Boy you guys told me a hole lot of nothing Now here we go, the nitrous needs about 4 inches so it can DRY before before it goes into the motor right? A k&n is about 6 inches, my 48 elctron is about 5 inches long , and my ported intake is about 4 inches. You guys need to stop me if im getting ready to do this wrong. I thought you shoot this through the carb it, the gas and nitrous will mix they go through the intake and boom im down the road in front of the pack. 650 viper where you at buddy.

I checked out DSA's setup this past weekend and that is the way he has his boondocker system done. I think he does have the snorkle tube but an open filter. His is tapped and mounted in the back of the filter, I do know that, so yes your on the right track.

2Big, it will be fine to put on a direct mount filter with the kit. Scatter was just saying that without the snorkel you will loose horsepower. But it will have no effect on the nitrous. Marky said boonys reconmmends 1.5 inches of travel before the carb, so a direct mount is fine if needed.

2Big, leave the snorkel tube on. If you go to direct mount you will need a completely different needle and will loose alot of performance. That carb is tuned for snorkel.

Gramps at Boondockers says thier system only needs 1.5" to work between the nitrous manifold and the venturi on the carb. You will get more HP out of the system if you run with the snorkel. Either way, it wont be a problem for the nitrous manifold.
