I think the stock battery puts out a 100 something cranking amps. I have a harley davidson battery that puts out 270 cranking amps would it hurt the bomb to install that one. Its almost double the cranking amps and since it only takes about 2 to 3 seconds of cranking time to start it its not like its running all day. Will it harm the electrical system?

 

NO it will not harm anything!!!!! Getting more CCA's than the bike needs is only a waste of money (for the most part); because usually the bigger the battery the more $$$.

 

How much money on cranking amps would i waste if your buddy owns the store and he gave it to you free? a few mods to the battery box and i should be in buisiness.

 

my buddy put a honda battery in his harley when we were on the road. it has not ran the same since. plus he rides with his head down in shame. but I just show him the pic of his harley being worked on in front of a honda shop, and that usualy chears him up[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

This battery is a gel deep cycle with about 500 cranking amps. The only mods were cut the top off the battery box and 2 longer bolts to hold it in place.
