Default what paddles to run

I have a 2004 baja X with a Ron woods full exhaust Ron woods CDI K&N filter 450 carb lightened hubs Sidewinder 520 chain conversion and gearing I think it is 15X42 and I have taken off everything I don't need to lighten up the bike. I was thinking of running 22 inch 8 paddle haulers but am not sure. Please let me know what you drag guys have found out is the best combo.
Thanks in advance Travis.

I'm starting to think proper tire selection is a bit of a black art. Sand consistency(grain size, uniformity, moisture content), horsepower, rider weight, gear ratio, swingarm length, tire size and type, paddle height, and tire air pressure all influence machine performance. I have 10 paddle and 8 paddle hauler extremes, all other factors being equal the 8 paddles get much better traction than the 10 paddles.I have no idea what happens when you go up to 11 or 12 paddles or down to 7 or 6 paddles. On my full meal deal HPR 730 with 15/42 gearing and a +4 swingarm the 8 paddles will send me ******* to the sky during a hard launch on wet or firm material. I weigh 270 with my boots on! Same setup in dry light sand gets a great start. If you have a stock swingarm or are a lighter rider you might want to run the 10 paddles.
You might consider sending your hubs to HPR and have them machined and drilled so you can run Honda or Yamaha 8" wheels. 22x11x8 tires give much better performance.I'm new to the drag race scene and know just enough to know I don't know squat about drag raceing!! I live on the Oregon coast and get in 60 plus ride days per year, I do know a little about DS650's and sand. I hope some of the pro's will chime in on this thread and help further our education.Ron
