Default Change water Pump ?

Thanks OregonDP,

Some of the Pics you have are pretty cool I realy like the Sun Set shot !
I will check my pump cover and gear and see what is up....
All I have done so far is drain out the coolent and for some reason it smelled kind of weird kind of like an alcohol or iodine type odor.
Not your normal anti-freez !... I wonder what that was all about ?
If I see any weird signs of wear I will take a few shots and upload them.

Water pump - OregonDunePatrol, to be honost, I'm not sure. I completely disassembled the water pump. There were no parts worn, NONE. The steel washer measured EXACTLY the thickness it was suposed to be. Th only thing I could find was a little, and I mean a little, play in the plastic gear that "snaps" over the steel drive pin (not the roll pin). If I pulled the plastic gear where it allowed the impeller to slide toward the cover, it would rub. If I pushed it on as far as it would go, it would not. The remedy I have in there now is I found a nylon washer that is exactly 1 mm thicker than the factory steel washer. Thus far I hav had no problems. As far as I can tell it is no longer rubbing. I think the problem is either the plastic gear ot the clutch cover was machined incorrectly. I have not replaced anything. Still using the same parts, minus the washer.

Rack actuator - yes, the heavier clutch springs are striping the teeth off of the shaft. Not sure if there is real fix yet. Anybody know of a real fix, or are you going back with stock parts?

Hey guys>> I just installed redline 80% springs and TVI sells a stronger shaft. Looks the same, we will see if it holds up

Hey OregonDunePatrol,

Well I opened up the water pump cover and every thing looked good no sign of any wear on any items.

But like I mentioned for some reason the Radiator coolent smelled like Amonia ? I still don't know what that's all about ?

Curious I heard that if you just tilt the bike over on to its side / will run the oil downwards and you wont have any dripping Oil mess come time to remove the Clutch cover ...

Did you do this ? and did it work if so ?

I am still stuck on the Amonia smell ...
Never encountered that before ?
But I am putting the Purple Ice in for coolent this time ... hopefull no leaks or boil over... ?
