Change water Pump ?
#1
Hey there,
Just curious has any one out there change out there water PUMP ?
As I just got my On Dunes Hi Output unit and after breaking the seal can't seem to find out how to remove the drive impeller / shaft ? I have the manual and CD but was curious if its a quick job or a real 12pack of beer and weekend type upgrade ? as I am headed out to the desert Friday.
Thanks in advanced like my Procomm CDI....

You'll need to remove the stock pump cover, & stock clutch cover. The stock impeller & shaft will come right out with the clutch cover. Slide the black gear off of the back side of the shaft and remove the shaft pin. Then do the reverse with your other stuff.

The clutch cover gasket doesn't always need to be replaced everytime you open the clutch cover. But, I always like to have one on hand in case I need another one.
Since the clutch is exposed, you can replace the springs if you want - its easy access since its right there.

IlivSD,
You are aware of the problems people have had with the clutch actuating gears with the stiffer clutch springs, right?
BTW - I have done my water pumps as well, it's easy. Make sure you use a torque wrench on the side cover, especially is you are able to save the old gasket.
When you get the waterpump cover off, check it to see if the impeller was rubbing the cover, mine was, see my page for pictures. I will be interested to see if it was.
