Outlander 330 question
#1
Hi! New guy here. I have been reading a lot around here lately while trying to decide what ATVs to get for me and my wife. Thanks for all the info so far. I didn't post any questions before now because I was able to search and find everything I wanted up to now.
I was pretty set to get 2 Outlander 400s but found that a local dealer has five 2005 330s that they seem very ready to bargain on (with the BRP rebates and all). We haven't sat down and gone over any hard numbers, but what is being thrown around is about $1000 less than an 06 400. I think I will still get the 400 for myself as I want all the power I can get but can't justify the 800. My last ride was a 400EX but my current ride buddies do a lot more serious terrain.
My wife has only ridden a Honda Recon so the Outty 330 would be a big upgrade for her and save us a chunk of $$$. However, there was one feature of the 330 that bothered both of us a bit. When we went to take off from a stop, the engine revs for a 1/2 second with no movement of the quad and then the bike jerks forward and takes off. We rode two different 330s and they both did the same thing. The Outty 400 they had on hand was smooth as silk. Is this a setup issue or a normal behavior for the 330? Is there a way to resolve it?
Thanks in advance.
PS, Anyone know for sure if the "infomercial" 5 year warranty certificate is good on the 330? The Sales manager at the dealership said yes but didn't sound too sure.

My wife bought a 330 last year. Yes it does overrev before launching.
With breakin and more mileage it does not jerk as much now.
I think it is part of the engine breaking feature, touchy when new to put on trailer,
but with breakin and more time on machine, she loves it.
She does not ride much and I would think that by the time you have 500 miles,
it will be more suttle.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess now we will have to decide what we want to do. The dealer was talking about $6000 for the '06 400 or $5000 for the '05 330. I suspect that I can get another $100 or so off either of those numbers if we sit down and get serious.
05DSRider, that is a kind offer and I may take you up on it if I think of some questions to ask you. I did quite a bit of searching and have read everything I could find relating to either model but I am sure there is more to know. Thanks again!

I think I paid 4500 OTD for my 330. The cool thing is that with the exception of a few internal engine parts everything else is the same as the 400 so parts/service shouldn't be a problem.
IMO, go for the 400 for yourself, you will probably desire the added power after a while. MY G/F usually rides the 330 while I switch between the Rincon and the DS. I think you've made a wise choice, everyone who rides mine loves it.

carider, Thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, when/where (city/state) did you buy your 330?
