Problem running 22 rears and 22 fronts?
#1
I want new tires and think I am going to go with 22x11x9 sur-trak rears, and 22x8x10 razr fronts. I would prefer to get the 22 fronts, because the only 23 they have in the razr 1, is a 23x7x10 in a 6 ply (also 50 instead of 35 like the 22).
Will running matching tire sizes front/rear have a noticeable change in steering geometry? I have run the stock fronts with 22 rears, but stock fronts are 21x7x10 I beleive?
I used to run 22 inch realtor rears with the stock fronts and didnt notice much of a problem, but was mostly running in loose terrain.
I searched quite a few old threads, some ran the matching front/rears and didnt say anything about problems, just that most said the 23/22 combo worked out the best for the DS.
Anybody know first hand if a 22/22 combo works out ok? I would just rather go with the lighter/cheaper 4 ply 22x8x10 if possible.

I would recommend sitting and or riding on a DS that is already running 22 rears before buying them. I needed new tires and bought 22 rears and hated it. the DS will sit forward and put you way up on the tank which is far from comfortable. It gave a lot more top end and killed the bottom end. I was lucky and found a guy that bought 20's for his quad and wanted to trade. I know a bunch of guys love them but it made me hate riding. Good luck either way.

Hmmm...what to go with. At the end of long rides I find myself too tired to keep myself on the back of the seat so sometimes end up toward the tank bouncing around (lol). I wish they had the 23's in a 4 ply. I like the idea of a bit wider tire (IE 22x8x10) but like the idea of the bit taller tire, that weighs more/costs more and is narrower (same as stock width though right?) in the 23x7x10.

I run 22" Holeshots front and rear, and have never had a problem. Don't recall riding to far forward either. Also, I used to drag my skid plate thru everything, until I went to the 22's.

Ya I change gearing a lot, not worried about the ratio, but rather the size difference front to rear.
I just placed the order and went with the 22x11x9 sur-trak rears and 22x8x10 razr fronts. I think im going to keep my 15 tooth on (kept it on with my stock 20's, but with the added power from the carb I am finding myself doing starts in 3rd. 15/22 with fresh tires should keep up pretty well.

keeping the fronts an inch larger than the rears will maintain factory caster angle, going big on the rears and staying the same on the front decreases caster, thereby increasing twitch and sensetivity.
I run 22 front and rear, and aftermarket upper a-arms to set caster where its ideal for this. but 22/22 with stock a-arms isn't too bad, it just gets worse when you have smaller fronts than rears. the ideal setup is 23/22, keeps caster angle factory, and looks better to boot.
I will never go back to 20" rears, the ground clearance and traction is just too much better with 22's.
I used to have sur-traks, the rubber is very hard and I had to run very low air pressure for good traction.
