Well, I know where your throwing the little comment about "certain" dynos........the only thing that I regret is that I DID NOT get a chance to run that 68hp beast that you were in such a hurry to sell as I was making plans about meeting you at the Jamboree....

No crazy's bike isn't the silver bullet. But we'd swap wins most of the time. The dyno comment comes from a very unforgiving dyno here. I know a guy that has the hpr end cap, intake, lectron, had it dyno tuned only 42 hp.Thats the kit that hpr says is 54 hp. Same dyno mine was 52. LS mine dynos the same another DS with hpr cams 14-1 a few other goodies supposed to be a 60 hp kit. Came up with 50 even. So the numbers are just bragging rights.

crazypainter i gain alot more in the lower and mid ranges than i did on top. jim said i gained 8-10 hp overall from when i had it on the dyno when it was stock. you just have to ingore peak hp and see what you gained between dyno's on the same dyno between mod's

HPR doesn't say the gains in the mid range they state peak. I rode yours I know you gained drastically in throttle response. But on the top your numbers don't jive with theirs. After your next upgrade have Jim run it again with the same tires and gearing and see if the increase is consistant with what you were told it would be. I'm taking mine back friday to see if I gained or lost after the big break. I'll be set exactly as I was in july when I dynod last.

I've stated this before on many occassions, but you have to understand- if you are dynoing on knobby tires (and I'm assuming that's the case in most of these situations), don't even think you can talk about hp peaks or hp gains. Take a 50cc 5hp bike and the losses would be minimal - off a few % at most; upgrade that bike until you have a 1000hp V8 and the losses would be phenomenal - I can see being off by 75%.
The faster the engine accelerates ( and that is more important to us than hp numbers, right? - I mean who cares if you make a 1000hp, but it takes all day to get there), the higher the losses because the bike spins the tires harder and faster. A slow revving, low torque machine will dyno higher on knobby tires than a fast revving, higher torque machine.
Bolt on a slug piston that actually accelerates slower than the one you had and you'll show more hp and torque than your stock one. Drop in a good one, you can actually read lower numbers. Knobby tires, knobby tires, knobby tires - if these are being used- the results don't belong in dyno conversations.
