Default Aluminum air box with battery relocated

Well, its done and installed. I leared the hard way and built 2 templates and then bent up one out of aluminum. Took it to have it welded up and they said it was too thin. So they made one out of thicker aluminum with flanges and rivets. I wasnt sure about that, but its very strong. Removed the frame rail that the battery used and salvaged the battery mount for reuse inside the air box. I did that because I worry about that battery comming loose in a metal box. Not to mention its very secure in that. I ride in the desert mostly so that made sence. I ran all the wires, rectifier, and solenoid all inside the box through a hole in the front of the box. Looks so much better now.

Not one that holds a battery in it. I looked, called, and emailed. Nothing is out there anymore for the DS air & battery box. So I made one. And even with the cost of extra material wasted, it was still WAY cheaper than the ones they used to sell for $199. However there was alot of time involved.

I did it because it gets the battery out of the way of rocks when I am in the desert going 50mph. Also did it because it cleans up the whole area, it hides alot of mess. You can also loose a couple pounds and if you dont reuse the battery mount you can loose a little more.
