No no, I wasn't comparing, I was curious as to how long you were pinned in top gear. I know it takes a little distance to get these behemouths up to top speed and even more to keep them there for awhile. Usually a dry lake bed or open desert.
Glad to see that you're getting her fine tuned.

Aseisback,
Yeah, I have a stretch of oiled road in front of my house that is pretty quiet, about a mile in length. It's a little hard on tires, but I don't run into traction issues that way. I've got her geared for 87mph with 17/38 sprockets and 20" tires. I gps'd her stock at 78mph with 16/40 gearing but haven't been able to get the gps back to test current settings. Wide open, it still sounds like it's in the rev limiter. For the racing we do, 85mph will be more than enough, so I'm not too concerned. I find it interesting that in one of my last issues of ATVSport mag they had a DS650 set up for Baja with 16/40 gearing and 26" tires, engine stock except an Alba pipe and jet kit. That works out to over 100mph!!! I can't believe that it can pull that kind of gearing, but it must.

ds650iceracer,
Have you done anymore testing ?
When you last posted you were going to test with the lid-on.
With lid-off you stated that bottom was too aggressive.
Looking forward to your data.

OMR,
I haven't had a chance to do more testing. Now that we have some cold weather, I have been working on tires and suspension set up for racing, waiting for the ice to get thick enough to ride on. I will post more test results around Christmas time. I'm looking to test on a 5-6 mile track where I can test lap times and see which settings result in the best times.
