ok.......I know there are a lot of fast guys in here......so I figured I'd post this in here.......

What do you guys think about lightening the flywheel.......for both drag racing and xc racing???

I am about 150lbs......and my mods are listed below........

I like to drag race every once in a while(to beat on friends)......and mainly like to race some xc,etc.......

Just heard some nasty stories about lightening the flywheel on a 4stroke......but on the pred(heavy @ss flywheel.....5.5lbs heavier than the trx and yfz)....it will be lightened 1lb rotating.....equal to 11lbs stationary weight.....

Any opinions would be great!!! Sorry to hyjack too much......

BTW.......you guys seen Doug's new drag pred yet?

boat, I own 5 2-strokes, they just happen to go on the snow. I'll tell you this, its a turbo yammi four stroke that holds all the drag records now!

As for the flywheel, you betcha, git-r-done!!

If anyone goes 3.8 they will definately be spending the big $$$. That includes the 2 stroke crowd, just ask sandbomber what a 20mil cost. Three's are possible with a chassis that will lay the power on the ground and yes it will take close to 150hp and a quick accelerating motor.

On a side note...the sparks 450 that went 4.31 at planet sand did this during the day when the track was kept in perfect shape. By 5 o'clock in the morning when we ran him in the 4 stroke class he was running nearly identical times as Sandbombers bike and he was running a power adder (nitromethane). At that race Sandbombers bike weighed aproximately 380lbs!! Almost 200lbs heavier than the sparks bike!!!! Our trap speed was 71-73mph and the sparks bike was running in the 67-68mph range. Best I remember he ran a 4.40, 4.48 and 4.52 against us. We ran 4.49, 4.49 and on the last pass I went for broke and raised the wheelie bar up about 1" to gain some traction but the bike carried the front tires to about the 200ft mark and was drifting so Randall had to shut it down. Anyway lets take 100+lbs off that DS and see what happens.

Hey Scooby, its just a matter of time on the 3.8's. Five years ago we were asking what it would be like to get the two strokes in them times, now look. I would bet it will be a large displacement motor, lightweight with a turbo or nitrous. I dont see anyone doing it on all motor. Unless it was some wicked fuel! If Kelley could get that raptor of there's to shift faster and maintain boost, it could do it like it sits, that thing is insane!!

Its hard to beat technology Im not saying 4 tokes arnt fast Im just saying it takes alot to make a ds fast like a turbo efi and nos also lots of cc's and they still have a hard time with the real fast yfz's because of the power to weight ratio its simple math And these guys would argue for years that Im wrong but what I just said is the fact

Power to weight is fact, no doubt. But what there saying is there is going to be alot of lighter Ds's kicking around here shortly, and with the power they can produce and sustain, the little bikes best watch out!
