Intake Porting revisited one more time
You will need to port the intake. And there will be alot of material to remove. Just go slow, and use the right tools. A dremel will be a nightmare. Go to your local parts supply house and get a head porting/polishing kit. I think the smaller ones will run you $35 or so.
A good ported intake will get you 2hp very easily. That said, if you don't know what you are doing, you may or may not see those kind of results. Depending on what your work is like you can even take HP away. I've seen many port jobs, and yes I do my own. If you don't know what you are doing and only have a dremel, contact HPResearch and get them on the case. I've seen there work, and the port job is very good. Mine is almost an exact match, but then again, I've done some work on heads before, and I also have a porting kit that I've kept replenishing over the years.
Not doing the port job with the Lectron will hurt performance and you won't get the full potenial out of the HV nor will you see a huge benifit from it. Kind of like hitting a brick wall when riding your bike. The air will be doing the same thing. You will effectively be trying to maintain performance moving air over a 3 - 4mm step.
It does work, and I would suggest it. A very easy 2 ponies and maybe more (depending on who does it).

Why would you get dumped on? Does Canada have a moratorium on intakes?
I am going to assume that it's something with the mail???????
You won't go wrong by HPR, and their stuff is top-notch.
I wouldn't put the bigger carb on without it. It won't run right, or be easily tuned if it's got to overcome the huge difference in size between the Carb dimension and the intake dimension.
Good luck. Let us know if you need more help.

I had a RWR ported intake and then let HPR work on it. There was a night and day difference in before and after the rwr was more like a clean up job, and the hpr was all out change in the intake. I had a stock one to compare it to, and the weight difference in material removed was impressive. You can try it yourself, or just let hpr do it right and keep you from having to mess with it.

DSWOLF, I talked to HPR today and they have the $75 intakes on the shelf to ship with no delay. The $150 one they need the core to do the work on and said it would be no longer than two weeks. Back just in time for Christmas!
