Replacing the chain
#1
I did this over the weekend and what a job. It was my first time and looking back I can see how easy it really is. Since it was my first time I was nervous. I am a master at taking things apart. Usually when I put thing's back together I have to take it apart again and again to get it right. It's just a lot of little things to get the job done. I had to remove the swing arm. I could have cut the chain or bought a link tool, but the new chain has no master link either. The hard part was getting the swing arm back on. I could not see how the o-rings that go between the frame and the swing arm bushings, were going to go back on? It was hard to get the swing arm in alone without the rubber. So, I came in here and searched around and BAM! Hightower said somewhere to put the o-rings on the outside of the bushings. I thought "What a dummy I am." I didn't even think to look at it like that. So I stretched them over the bushings and slid the swing arm in to place. Once the swing arm bolt was through I flicked them off the bushings and POP! they just fell into place.
So I got everything on and finally got to try my new Barnett clutch. Seems like it slipped or did at first anyway.
I adjusted it around and think I got it to hook up solid.
Now I wish I went with a 15 tooth sprocket. If I get one, will I have to remove a link from the chain? I replaced with BRP chain and sprockets.
