Default cam chain tensioner - stock and aftermarket

not many posts on this topic, and its been a while since discussed.
pros and cons of the stocker vs. the manual adjusting aftermarkets?
I know some have had stockers fail, and some got motor damage from it.
My stocker is almost 5 years old and still kicking.
But I wanna replace it now just for preventive measure sake.
Trying to decide on the hydraulic stocker or the manual aftermarket.
Let 'em fly, I'm hear to learn.

Like the old saying goes "If it aint broke don't fix it". If you are going to replace it and have had no problem with the old one, why change to something different? Stick with what works and is reliable.

This is getting to be an interesting topic.

Bigdaddy and I are noticing more and more "stock" cam chain tensioners sticking WIDE open.

I think there were a few cams that have broke recently. I think, and Note JMO- That a stuck open tensioner may be a factor with cams that have broke.

Hightower, I am replacing mine for the first time with a stock replacement. Never had a issue with the stocker, so i'll stick with it until I do.
