I just bought my first ATV, I wanted an 400 xt but for an extra 1500 dollars decided to get an 800 Max.
With taxes registration and trhe dealer threw in a winch it was $9700.
I thought I could add the hand grip grip covers after the fact but I really wanted the winch.
Plenty of places to ride up by me.
Have to buy a helmet and wanted to get some feed back on a good one.
Wanted to know from the forum if I paid too much, been loking around and I thought the price was fair since I got it off the lot.

Congrats on your new quad, the 800 is a awesome machine.
Find a helmet that is comfortable, good ventilation, removable liner,
adjustable visor, light weight and most important," Snell and DOT approved!"
Don't go cheap on a helmet it's protecting your head.
I like, HJC, but there are many to choose from.

congrats on the new quad and welcome to the forums! u have a hardcore atv and i bet ull have tons of fun on it. now about helmets.... i have an hjc and its really comfortable and i like it. u should go to a local atv/dirtbike/harley/motorsports dealer (any of the 4) and try the helmet on before u buy it. buying it on the internet might not work out kuz uve never felt it on ur head before. if u want u could go to the dealer and try on helmet and c which one u like.... write down the brand and price... and then go on the internet and c if u could find the helmet online for cheaper. if u cant then just buy it from the dealer. good luck.

I should have asked the dealer about the 500 dollars rebate, I paid 9000 ( excluding taxes, reg, etc) for a brand new Outlander Max, with hitch installed....
DId I get a deal or did I pay too much ?
Should I mention the rebate since I haven't had the ATV deleivered yet ??? And I got it off the lot.
I just notice the rebate is in effect until 1/31/06.

Definately ask for the rebate!!
I think your deal was OK but don't worry what others paid
you'll only have regrets that you got screwed if someone says you
paid too much and how do you know their telling you the truth.
The 800 is an awesome machine "take it out and get dirty" you'll have a blast.
Good luck with the rebate.

I have an HJC open face and velcro attached goggles. For dust, I have a sportsman U2 allergy mask that works much better than a bandanna or the paint store dust respirators. Catches the really fine particles, then when it gets dirty you can just wash it, ready to go again. You might want an open face helmet as the closed ones are claustrophobic for some people. You should be able to get a DOT approved lid for around $100.
I think you got a good buy on your Max. The srp is about $10k for the max, 9.4 for the XT, and 8.8 for the std Outy. Sounds to me like you got a buy. You are really going to enjoy that fine bike, just go have fun and don't look back. You have just spoiled all other brand utility bikes for yourself, imo. I really don't think any other bike on the market today compares with it.
