Default Who to have Port Your head???

I think you are right. The guy on the podium has nothing to prove since he is on the podium already and the guy that wants to be on the podium doesn't want to take on the guy that is already on the podium until he is sure he can win.............

Yep, that will be a long, long time before that happens.

What does your dyno sheet look like? Do you know if it was a conservative dyno?

Well, right now there is a Grand difference in price between the two extremes. The only thing I want to know is if its worth it. 3 extra horse is not worth it to me. 10 extra horse is. Heck I can just spray 3 extra horse for 23 dollars. Can porting beat that?LOL!

650viper, porting the head is well worth it!

i went from a stage 2.5 you could say no porting but big valves. all jetting in right.
raced two diff people, found out where i was against them.
next i ported the head, got it jetted then went back out and raced the same people "now im a stage 3"
i gained about 4-5 bikes with just porting!
iv done about 5 bikes now and another on the way, everyone was very impressed.
i hope this helps.

It is funny, I always get confused when cost is brought up. Every time I think we are talking about which is the best, value is brought up. Value is great but it has to do with which you buy, not which is best.

If one guy charges more for his porting and has a track record of doing so, it is because there is a market of people who are willing to pay the premium for the best. If there wasn't, the price would be lower.

Bottom line, which is best is up to the builder, which one you buy is up to you.

podium???? what in the WORLD does the podium have to do with it???????/ all i was stating was that u would never get the two of them together long enough to find out.....by NO means does winning a race up a hill have to do with who has better porting!!!!!!!!!! there is alot more that goes into a fast set-up bike than porting..or H.P for that matter.....i am deffently not saying TVI has a better port job , nor am i saying HPR does, it would be Ignorant to say that on that basis there has never been a dyno comparison.......i like to stick to facts, not assumtions....lol, any hoo

What about the question about your dyno sheets and where they came from. I am not just making trouble with this one. I am actually curious.

Dsnut, I disagree. If someone gets more hp than another in just porting, that would tell me that porting is the best. BUT, if that porting cost a substantial amount more, and only gets you one more horse, does that still make it the best? NO. The best would be the porting that provides the best amount of horse power for the cost. Now like I said in a prior post, I have had a decent port job that I thought was great. Only to find out later that there was alot better porting for a higher cost. So I had to look at it again, did the extra cost give me the best bang for my buck. In that case he!! yes. Thats what I am looking for here. If I am only going to gain a couple more hp with an extra grand, that surely isnt the best out there. The job that gives me the savings of a grand and only costs me a couple hp was the best, in my opinion of course.

Now I might just be full of it, as I have talked to a few different builders, but were does the cost vs gain come into play. I have been more than happy with everything I have done to my machines, and I have stuck with one builder. Now if that one builder would make me a sweet deal on two port jobs, I would quit all my banter, and get r done! Ya, you know I'm talking to you, you in the camo coat and glasses! I love it!

Those are impressive numbers! 30 to 34 hp gain is tremendous. I don't think I gained that much. I to am right at 70 hp but the base line was a bit higher than 36 as I recall.

I will be interested to hear what your new pipe does.

BTW, TVI should have had you running your bike at 4SW's. I bet it would have done better than 52 mph on the hill.............
