I saw the thread. It obvious spun off, out of control. Too bad, honest criticism is hard to come by.

Great comparison, I have an Outlander 330 and a Rincon, both are great machines IMO.

Right now Honda must be offering some big cash back on the 05's, here they advertised them today for $5895+tax.........no freight or set up.

I have a slightly difference of opinion on the Honda Rincon's. I have never owned one but have ridden an 05 and a 06 and a 350 Honda quad. While I think they are well built machines but to me they ride too stiff. Everyone has their preferences like cadillac's and lincoln's. Another dislike is the single thumper. I guess I am spoiled by the v-twins?

Interesting, stiff has never come to mind when riding my Rincon, quite the opposite in fact.

A lot depends on tires. When my original equipment radials got holes torn in them, I replaced them with some ITP Mudlites on one Rincon, and Kenda Bearclaws on the other. The ride was definitely harsher. It took some getting used to once I switched.

Why would a Honda/Rincon man go and buy an 800 Bombardier?

Skip all the and's, if's and but's, the grass is simply much greener, no excuses needed.

I wonder more what this would be like with the new Rincon 2006 680 with disk brakes, reworked transmission, EFI, radial tires. Can't help but wonder been both to Yamaha, and Honda and have to say the Honda comes out better over all so far.

First things first: I like the Rincon (the 680). It has excellent suspension, ergo's, fit, and finish. All-around, it is an excellent quad. I've spent tons of saddle time on it and its carb'ed forefather. Huge improvement! WOW! Disc brakes! 'Bout time!

Secondly, I LOVE the Outty!

That said, lets get down to some conversation. The review/shoot-out you posted is first rate! Do you contribute to a magazine? If not, your writing skills warrant, at least, entertaining the thought of doing so: you are good.
I'm not going to go into a long winded preaching trying to dispel your opinions, but I would like to touch on a few of my own observations.

Power: There is no competion-period. We've already established that. 'Nuf said.

Transmission: Belts ARE for more than holding one's pants up and have been proven reliable by, first, the snowmobilers(myself include-yes I abused a few sleds in my time) and also the ATVers. I agree the Pol's had problems, early on, with moisture-o.k. water-causing slippage, but those days are pretty well over. Have you priced a replacement tranny for the Accord, er , Rincon? $1500-doh! Belts come cheap, in comparison. A side note- The Rinny shifts at odd intervals when railing at GNCC speeds: especially off jumps.

Ergos: High rear rack and softer-than-it-should-be seat aside, the Bomb takes this category. Being that this section is purely subjective, I like sitting "in" a quad as opposed to "atop" of one. I also like the "flat" bar and grips on the Bomb. I agree the Outty is wider through the mid-section, than the Rincon, but not overly so. That said, I'd say close, but the nod goes to the Bomb.

Mud Coverage: A subject not covered...Honda-by a long shot! I appreciate BRP making the Outty (somewhat) sporty looking (curves would be nice. God didn't put curves on women as an afterthought), but jumping off into one's local mud-bog on the 800 can actually be a spa experience. Ever here of the "mud bath" treatment? For the most part, you will stay a bit less soiled on the Honda. But, we don't ride these things pre-op!

High Speed Handling: I DO have enough experience on both machines to offer an OPINION on this. Personally, I like the Bomb. Though the fr. suspension is a little mushy, the rear set-up is< IMHO, the best in the industy. I rode both on a MotoX track and felt comfortable. I felt more so, at speed, on the BRP due to composure upon landing. That said, I also think the power advantage of the Bomb ramped the comfort level up. By that I mean the power could get me out of "trouble" easier. The Rincon almost felt faster due to the fact that I wasn't intimidated by the power, but checking times, I was WAY faster on the Bomb. Close, but HP rules. Chastise me for being an ex-MX dude, but twin "swing arms" trump the A-arm set-up.

Low Speed.....I'll give it to the Rincon here, but it IS close. I felt more comfotable on the Rinny due to size ( or lack there of) and power (or lack there of:in comparison) I, at no time, felt I was going to to do something stupid due to an itchy throttle thumb. The Honda felt rock solid, and WAS rock solid. I didn't get in any trouble on the BRP, but the thought was there, bolstered by that fact that all of that HP was lurking....

Rock Crawling...Yea, you could put this in the Low Speed category, but the difference boils down to ground clearance. Advantage BRP.

Build Quality: O.K., I've bought into the Honda frame of mind. They are SOLID. I'm sure the Rinny will carry on the tradition. BRP builds quality machines too and will continue to prove that. The BAJA 1000 was a fluke. Still, reputation dominates, so I'll slant towards Honda, kinda, sorta-for now.

Brakes: Yup, BRP takes this one. Putting the discs up, outta the way, is genius! Shades of ATK?: although I DO continue to hate the single lever brake system. Of all the N. American Co.'s, I would think BRP would have the nuts to seperate the brake controls.

Conclusion: If BRP would seperate the brake levers and lower the rear rack, oh, and give us a little more mud coverage, I'd sell my wife and kids into slavery and become a pimp for BRP.
If Honda would step into the Big-Bore market ( for real) and live life ( a little) on the edge, I'd keep the wife and kids and be Mr. Conservative.
Until then, I'm pimpin' and Lovin' it!!!!! Go Bombardier!

Not trying to start any wars here, just giving my 98 cents.
I expect abuse and am ready for it. Fire away!
Thanks for "listening".

Thanks for the kudos. I'm glad you liked the review. That would be great writing for a living. Especially if I got to test out new quads all the time.

Are you a member of rincon.atvowners.com? Good Rincon site.

I do like the Bomb a lot. If I had to keep only one machine, it would be the Outlander, not the Rincon.

By the way, I did mention the lack of water spray coverage thing under build quality

Not a member. Write for a living? Who is asking whom? You are good. We'll call it a tit (no implications intended) for a tat and agree to, somewhat, disagree. Like I said, I enjoyed reading your opinion(s). You write well. Oh, and sorry for the oversight on the fender coverage. I reside in the South and if mud isn't entered into the equation, the issue isn't considered: a splash is welcomed! PM me. Your writing ability has piqued my interest.
