We looked at a 2004 Max XT 400 yesterday. It only has 60 miles & 14 hours on it. Comes with the stock tires plus an extra set of more aggressive tires that have never been mounted and a 60" plow. Guy is asking $5000.
1. Is $5000 a good deal, great deal?? What would be a great deal price?
2. I doubt it will fit in the 8' box of my truck, has anyone done this. We'd like to put it in the box and then pull a travel trailer.
3. Does anyone know if the rear portion of the seat is removable? I know it is on the 06's.
4. Any known problems I should be aware of or specific things to look for/at?
Thanks for any input you all can give, hope to be joining the ATV world soon.

you mentioned the MAX XT fits in the back of your pickup. Yesterday I posted a somewhat related question on the 2006 MAX XT. Does your 2004 have the extra bumpers that protrude front and back? Does any part of your MAX XT protrude past the tailgate of the pickup, i.e. would it fit inside a closed trailer that is exactly 8' long?
Thanks much for the information. I called Bombardier and they didn't know. I called the dealer and they didn't know either and it is a 90+ minute drive (each way) to their location - and they only have the MAX XT.

I have the standard XT bumpers and it fits sideways in my widebody enclosed trailer, as I have loaded in my side door before. There was a little room to spare. It also fits in my pickup bed with a little room to spare.
I would take the trailer to the dealer and load the exact model you want to buy in what you plan to carry it in before you spend the money. That way you will be sure and have "peace of mind".
Or, you can invest in a measuring tape....

Thanks for feedback.
I thought about the measure tape, tough thing is measuring the very front point to the back - kindof need to stuff the ATV into a corner, nose into the wall and then push a piece of plywood up against the back to get the real measurement.
I couldn't believe it will the Bombardier corporate folks told me the XT is the same length as the regular model.
