Crazy, can we take this a step further. This is also a change I want to make. Those of you running them, how long have they lasted? How much torque are they able to reliably hold (don't want to replace yearly)? And are the gains worth it?

I got one from HPR and now they recommend me to upgrade to something stronger. Its the price we have to pay when we are not sure how far we want to build these bikes.
I need to get one on order...

Looking into this as well.

I'm done with Alum. sprockets though so, don't want to get any of the 530 Wood sprockets. They just don't hold up for me.

So, who's running them?
What material sprockets?
What HP are they good for? How much is too much?
Are they good for long term use? Not just drag racing?

DuneMe, I'll be runnning them soon. I went to the 520 conversion thanks to BigBaja. I using the Sidewinder TI-Moly rear and front. I got my chain from a place called Moto-chain. You can find them on the web. We were able to go right down the book and look at Tensil strengh, O-ring vs. X-ring. For those of us who have extended swing arms, MotoChain was able to set me up with a 9000lb tensil strength Xring in 126 links. Cut specific for me and too my door in about 4 days. Cost me under 90. I should be set and ready to go. I've heard that the TI moly is the way to go, but obviously cost is pretty bad if you are paying retail - Again, thanks Baja.

I've weighed everything! Here are the totals.

Stock 530vs520 Xring = 1.2lb savings with 520
Stock Gears vs. Ti moly SideWinder 520 = 10oz savings with SW set

Just about two pounds.

Also this was very interesting....

Stock Muffler system vs. RWR full system = RWR only 4 pounds lighter! VERY suprised.

Sorry, didn't mean to hiJack the thread.

I am running a 520 conversion. It is an x-ring chain setup that Dave Moore uses on his 130 hp race Banshees. He said some of those bikes are making close to 80 lbft of torque and when the power comes on it hits hard!

I know 4-stroke numbers are different and we make much more torque earlier so I would think my 55 to 60 lbft of torque would be harder on the chain than the more powerful Banshee, but I could be mistaken.

I am concerned about it holding up but Moore says not to worry and that I will be fine. I am making sure my chain stays snug (no chain lash if possible) That is the key I think.

Of course Dave doesn't know I am a total spastic with a clutch............lol
