Default What steering stem?

First off hello to everyone. I've read a bit here and it seems that there are a lot of well informed members.

Second, I had a get-off a high speed and my DS rolled down a dune - end over end unfortunately The steering stem is pretty bent towards the right side and I need a replacement. I had already ordered my new fat bars and light kit from TrailTech and now I need to replace the stem before I mount them. Who makes steering stems that are strong and where can I get them? I might be talked into buying it a little longer as I am 6'2" and the hi-bend X-Bars from TrailTech aren't much different than stock in the bend radius.

All help is appreciated in advance.

I got an Epic +1 from Alba and I love it. The anti vibe bar mounts are nice. Call Alba they don't have them on the web site but when I got mine they had it in stock.

Oh yea I'm 6'5" and the stem is actually like 2" higher than stock with the bar clamps.

I don't know but it was WAY lighter than stock so I think it could be.

I personally replaced mine with a stock factory one reason being if the stem is to strong were is it gonna give when you roll over? a 136.00 stem or the frame? i choose the stem

All,

Thanks for the information. I do have the trailtech light/computer kit though and it requires the flat mounting plate at the top of the stem (like stock). It can't use a stem that already has a built in lover bar clamp.

I may have to get another stock stem regardless of what I want to do just to keep the computer & lights. I haven't been able to find a stock "like" stem made out of c-molly yet.

Does anyone know about how much weight can be saved by going to aftermarket C-molly?

The stem that Fat Holley has is double tube chrome moly. They take 2 thinner wall tubes and sleve the larger over the smaller making the two more resistant to damage than a single thicker tube. I don't know the actual weight savings but they work well. I have one on my Honda and it's been upside down twice without so much as a stress crack.
