Any plans for a Silver lake trip The dunes open in 32 Days.

 

i would not mind making that trip. only 6 hrs. from my driveway and i ahve been wanting to go for quite some time. the only thing is i will not drive six hours to ride in 30 degree weather and snow covered sand. we'll se how the weather holds up

 

I haven't decided yet, but I will either be there, or LS OK sometime in May. I'm gett'n the dune itch, got a new 265R to try out at the dunes too.

 

I have a buddy stationed just North of Chicago and would like to plan a trip. But I dont see how me and the ugly stick could survive that trip.....considering the noise patrol would be out in full force. We always make a trip in mid to late April. We might move it back to early May..better chance of good weather.

Choose...they very seldom check sound that early in the season, but they do check for a spark arrestor..not sure if the ugly stick can be spark arrested. I made a homemade s/a for my ODP open end cap and it worked for two trips..it finally blew out. Now I'm running the ODP disk cap with 14 discs.

There is a way around getting the ugly stick into Silver Lake. I managed to get in there a couple of years back, and I WAS tested for noise. I probably even have the set up laying around here some where yet. If your interested, send me a pm, and Ill give you the details.

I'm planning to go with a bunch of guys in July (after the 4th). I met CamsDS out there and was trying to beat Wayne on his YFZ on a nearly stock DS but man that guy has the power to weight ratio totally in his favor. Maybe this year if my project DS is ready I can give him a run.

I went last year in May and I strongly suggest you guys wait a little longer before you go. It was cold and not as much fun. I'll see if I can bring Dabomb with us. Bombsaint maybe we you meet us up there. Make it like a big DS Fest. Maybe Hightower will chime in.. oh.. speaking of Hightower... I owe him a little favor.

 

im down for a get together as long as it is decent riding weather. Last easter we rode there and it was 18 degrees! We shared the entire place with a dirtbiker from NY (towed it in behind is c5 corvette lmao) but it wasnt really that much fun.
