My Thoughts on the END CAP vs Big Gun Exhaust
#1
This is only my thoughts on the Big Gun EVO Exhaust.
I replaced my End Cap exhaust system before going to Glamis, the fit was a bit tight and needed some soft hammer persuasion but all and all a nice fit, and the pipe looks awesome, also I removed the 94db tubes from the pipe and comes with replacement washers so it can be made to run as free flowing (also comes with a spark arrester screen).
The first thing I noticed was sit was just a bit quieter not by much, re jetted on the TM from a 152 to a 155 main, and dropped the needle 1 clip, checked the plugs and all was good.
Guys im 6'2" 340 lbs and built like a bear, so you skinny azz's can complain later.
basic difference was that a little less bottom end over the End Cap, but the Big Gun picked up a bunch of midrange, and a little more top end, it was nice riding in the dunes in mid throttle, remember all my add on's are bolt on, as of todate K&N open Air lid, 22" Scat/haulers 14 tooth front sprocket.
I would love to try the Top Gun Exhaust, but the reason I used the Big Gun was...well it was FREE.
Dont get me wrong Bang for your Buck the End Cap is a DEAL that works on making the DS run better !

Is there a big weight difference between the stock exhaust and the Big Gun? I am running an end cap on my exhaust with good results, but I am also looking to go to the Big Gun or Top Gun pipe more for weight loss than added power. Has anyone measured the weight differences between these three pipes.
Sorry, don't mean to steal your thread.

I believe the stock is near 20 pounds and the big gun is near 6. The problem with the BG that I had is that it rusted pretty bad like any ceramic coated exhaust. They are making stainless for thier dirt bikes, if they made a stainless for the ATVs I would go back to one in a heartbeat. THey fit great and you'll annoy the hell out of anyone behind you with that exhaust back pressure hitting them in thier heads.

believe it or not guys, the weight savings isn't huge. Let me qualify that..... The weight difference between some aftermarket pipes aren't that big. I recently posted on some weights in a sprocket post.
The difference between the entire stock exhaust and the RWR full exhaust was only 4lbs and 7 oz. Not much really. Dyno'img the two (stock with end cap and RWR full) would be very interesting. Not sure that it will be that big of a difference. You might squeeze out another 1 or 2, but you'll have to justify that increase against the price tag. I think their might be a few better options.
Something could be on the horizon.

I would like to see top gun vs LTE vs end cap I have run a LOT of exhausts for the ds (yosh/WB/HMF x2 /CT/mbrp and have a top gun on the way) and all seemed to have their own advantages and disadvantages

Anybody weigh their Top Gun exhaust yet? The RW exhaust looks similarly built to the stock exhaust, so I can see that there may not be that big of a weight difference, same with the Top Gun. I can see where an HMF or Big Gun would weigh less, much smaller canister looking at the pictures.

Like Entomber said, if it aint' stainless, then you've got problems. They just want to keep reselling you the same thing, lol.
Top gun ss would be hard to beat with adjustable sound baffles, correct size muffler, and a unipiece tuned exhaust (no one has this unipiece contoured tuning advantage nor correct size tuned muffler). Big gun's contoured slip on is definitely designed nicer than most, but with only the baffle being stainless will mean the baffle won't rust but everything else around it will.
Other exhaust with small round or even oval cans are suspect to me until see proof of the difference. However, the supertrapp I'll get is a round can since its the only ss adjustable tune USFS slipon I can get for my bike (but they do have a dyno, specs, and installation on site, 1 - 4 hp increase per range of discs used uniformly top to bottom - not too shabby for stock bike!). DS650 has a much wider range of choice, as well as many expert performance vendors.
It would be excellent to have similar bike dyno's of all mufflers but who would do that with tuning, dyno, part damage, labor (expensive!)? It would only keep people from buying some but not necessarily buying the best tested with ebay around, lol. Now HPR's superior top gun should be compared to others that he doesnt sell since he's the only seller of that one: and although haven't seen the dyno, I trust their description as other descriptions have been 100% right with dyno verifcations to date. But a dyno is better than a thousand words, I have to admit :-)
I wish Top Gun would fit my bike. Its a class product.

I used to run a BIG BUN, and yes... it was light. Pretty cheap feeling, but it did do it's job. I believe that the Top Gun will be lighter than the RWR. I think that HPR specs it out at about 6lbs or so. At that weight, it would make it much lighter than the stock can and pipes. Probably by about 10 - 12lbs or so.

Im going to raise a few eyebrows on this one, At least the HPR Top Gun is reasonably priced, If HPR would get there pricing down on there other items like cams pistons, and such I think there volume of sales would just go through the roof and out sell the competitors and make teh extra cash on the headwork and other labor secrets.
All Im saying theaftermarket DS industry is a VERY small pond to fish in and there are to many fishermen.
