Default 450R Carb??

Atvaddict,

I think the accelerator pump is not supposed to be connected. Look over bartlett's notes.
That would be your 'too rich' problem.

You're done!

Default 450R Carb??

My accelerator pump was hooked up on mine and it ran great. It pulled from bottom end all the way to top end very well even when you hammered on the throttle from a low idle the only problem I had was that it did not out perform a modified stock carb on the top end on the dyno and that is what I am trying to achieve. I did not save my dyno sheets on this test becouse I was not proud of the numbers. Now looking back I wish I had so I could post them. I am having some motor work done now and when I get it completed I will post the numbers. Also I will give the differance between a lectron 42MM and a 48MM on my bike.

Bartlett and the other successful carb install did not install pumper and had great results.

The pumpers there primarily for a problem with Honda's that are not present on Bombs, from what Bartlett posted.

LOL RWR said that the TM45 didn't need a pump either and claimed that the DS would run flawlessly without it. Well guess what?
You appear to be a smart guy YJ, suppose you tell us how the carb can ocercome the momentary lean-out effect that takes place when the throttle is whacked wide open? I know... that was not in Bartletts notes but maybe you can improvise here.

Default 450R Carb??

Jsds,

Different engines. Not a huge sample size, but 2 who did like Bartlett said ran great - whole power range improved. 2 who did put pump on said no power improvement or boggs down from rolling start.

Its easier to do what historically worked right, and don't intend to analyze differences in engines. Bartlett did explain it somewhat, but I don't care: its different engine systems and I think engine recirculation flow may have been a cause. From there many improvements will take place. For example, dual dialajets will put 20-30% mist spray fuel in (ie - like EFI). So that would be 1000% better than a wet pump dump . I've got an article for a Honda who replaced his pump or enhanced with dialajet with significant results.

In fact dual dialajets only come on when lean, so it will always be 'tuned' lean somewhat. FSC's and cv's are a reason I wanted this carb. It should be even more responsive with dialajets that mist spray from idle up, and not like efi which comes on during midrange somewhere. Of course with DS intake manifold and $30 porting, egt/cht gages, and dual dialajets, it will cost more but it will be a self-monitoring system that should never go lean, never run rich, and if it does, I will have real time monitoring for immediate corrective action. Honda and Keihin depend on 450r carb for one of their most successful vehicles, so I'm not worried.

From there part replacement and/or boring if required. I'm optimistic in stock carb with component changes and dialajet will do better than my dual 36mm Mikuni Bst-33 cv's. Keihin is an advanced carb, and a big reason Honda performs so well.

Go ask Bartlett if you really want to know. I'm not interested at all. Not a problem to me.

jsds

You are talking different bikes and different carbs and different types of carbs. No, I don't care about minutia. That's why I got THIS carb on THIS bike, because I don't want to fool with inferior designs.

You seem to to want to know odd ball crap that doesnt matter to anyone, but want others to do your leg work. This is an outstanding system, and I suspect you are just trashing up the thread because of these non-sensical bs statements. Challenge me, lol.

You are just another hypster, basher, crasher. Please go crash somewhere else.

Thanks!

Just to hear you accuse JSDS of this particular thing is outrageous. This has been your defining characteristic on this forum. This glaring hypocracy could not go unmentioned

Holy chit! did you pull the trigger on something finally... I'm so happy (tears welling up) I knew this moment would come someday. I just didn't know it would come so soon.... I thought we should talk about it some more, but I guess you were ready after 6 months, 500 posts, and 400 edited posts. I'm so happy, I would like to get you a card or gift of some sort... maybe we should throw you one of them "showers" like the ladies do when they are going to have a baby.
