Upright Stand For Quads?
#1
While sitting around the campfire in Glamis last weekend, and I heard a few folks with the same complaint about enclosed trailers( ones with living quarters) and the smaller trailers not having enough room for more quads.
So I brought up why not just stand them up, OK then the list flew on why not;
#01 Dang things weigh to much to lift up.
#02 I have a six pac rack so my quad wont stand up.
#03 I have nothing to tie it down to keep it from falling over
So I'm asking if someone built a Quad Stand that was secured to the trailer and that you were able to roll your quad on to and then secure the front end and front tires on.
Then have a manual or mechanical lift that can lift the front of the quad to be a straight 90 deg or to a 45 deg
we drew up a few designs for a single stand say 4 1/2ft wide x 5 ft tall and a double that you could use each side off.
just wondering on some input, again the idea was to be able to get say 6 quads in a trailer and some of those weekend warriors only hold a few quads.

I say just buy a 50' Trailer With 28' of Garage like I did lol....But that is a good idea. if you ran posts up on the sides to do the lifting and made the latching system lay flat on the floor so it dosn't get in the way to much..and a web strap system like the car dollies use to latch the mounting sytem to the front tires....I think it would work good...finding good mounting places on the trailer would be key to the system...to withstand the latteral forces of starts and especially those sudden stops....sounds like a good idea that could be produced for an affordiable dollar amount.

No truth. The only way to have gas in the oil would for it to be standing on its nose with a valve open, and then it would have to seep past the rings. But I was told that these quads have had an issue with the oil settling in the back of the case, and having to be bled to get it to oil again. Now that was on a older model, and since the newer models have a oil bleed line, I dont think it would cause any issues. I have not done it, so thats my opinion.

I think 650Viper is right.
If you tow it like this, just follow the procedures as you would to make sure you have oil pressure (turn the key but not the ignition and turn it over until the red dummy light goes off - indicating you have oil pressure.)
I haven't towed mine like this but, Jeffnrivercity hauled his like this.
When you start it up, take it easy for a bit as oil can settle into the cases and it may take some time for the oil to get pumped back to the upper res.

I put my bike up like that 1 time and it wouldn't start for more than an hour after. The gas was off and the oil pressure was good when cranking, but it would not fire. I couldn't figure it out, but I won't do it again. Just get a bigger trailer. Every man needs his own sh!tter out there anyway.
