Default DS-650 Electrical problem help

Hello, I have 2 2001 DS-650's. One of them is having problems running. It will start and idle like normal, but above an idle, it pops and sputters and dies. The reason I know this is an electrical problem is that if I put the battery charger on the battery set at 20 amps, it revs and runs like normal. If I switch the charger down to 2 amps OR up to 40 amps, the engine dies right away. Could this be the computer or rectifier? Here is what I have done so far:

-Battery is less then a month old and the bike was running fine last week.
-I cleaned the battery connections at the frame, the battery, and at the solenoid.
-Checked and cleaned all fuses and electrical plugs.

When the CPU on my other Bomb went bad, it wouldn't even start, so I was thinking it must not be the CPU. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks a lot!

mine did same thing....

start it up turn your lights on and see if it runs good....sounds like a regulator/rectifier problem...

good luck...

awesome....now you need to replace the reg ..i have had a few go bad , im on my 3rd and a few others have had the same issue...do a search and you will see...goodluck

what it comes down to is its something causing the rec/rec to blow out continiously...if believe mrneg had his fixed by a dealer and it was the starter..so they said, others have had it be a bad ground from the battery to the subframe or the ground from the starter(?)...basically nobodies really knows, so if you figuire it out let us all know

Default DS-650 Electrical problem help

Hey Chris. It was definitly the starter on my bike giving me all the problems. Ever since the dealer replaced it she fires right up. Who ever thought that was the problem as it would start but it always seemed that the battery would go dead. Im glad that head ache is over. I did run a ground wire from the bolt on the starter to the frame just to make sure its grounded good enough. Later, D

Im not sure on that one. The dealer checked mine by installing a new one. The starter costs $330.00. What a rip. Later, D
