Its a stock cylinder I bought just for this application I researched the steel sleeves and wasnt sold on the idea, and was blown away at the cost of the HPR 730, when Old man racing wrote about Millennium I contacted them and worked with there tech (kurt) they have done big bores before but never a DS.
Yes Im the Lab Rat!!!!
His thoughts on using aluminum for the big bore was that the aluminum sleeve would expand at close to the same rate as the metal surounding the cylinder and less likely to slip or get that egg shape that I heard about, also with the Nikisil coating that the rings ride against is pretty hard and smooth for heat disapation and the wear factor of the cylinder should be as close to a stock cylinder( if Im wrong Ill find out soon enough), Now Im working on getting a new head to have ported next. so when I do the whole rebuild on the ds it will be down only a few days (I hate having a motor apart longer than a few days with kids you always end finding extra parts).

ERBE,
Those are exact same concerns I had that couldn't get answers from anyone. I had that link, so must have got it from you earlier on another thread. LIFE TIME GUARANTEED CYLINDERS. I like that! The guy is Professor smart too.
You are a pretty smart guy as well.
Appreciate your efforts!

Im just not 1 of these guys that just blows bucks to have the so called Best parts, I reserch the technoligy on these bikesand they have really changed in the last 10 years on how the 4 strokes perform, and being a tech junkie!
I wanna know how things work why they work how did you deside to do that and Im not affraid to ask questions.
We all work hard for our money and it dosent go as far as it used to for our toys with the changes in the ATV market of no longer investing in the 2 strokes and all or jumping on to the 4 strokes, you gotta do your research to get to know about what performance parts you require and willing to pay.
My goal is to build a complete reliable dune monster grunt motor for under $2000.00
400 cylinder (bought one for 225)
150 piston 105.5 13 to 1
free pipe Big Gun EXo
225 carb TM45
150 cams 109s
springs -working on it (i just found out what dealer cost was GRRRRRR 190 sell for 300 to 350
shim under bucket
ported head havent contacted him on the cost but he is going to do 3 heads for me ds650 350x 400ex
Read this and you get even a better idea Text nikasil coating
They even mention Rotax on the coating

Erbe, I get the whole kid thing, except I never end up with extra parts. I have to search the yard like it is Easter looking for the missing bolts in the dump truck....Screw drivers making a fence in the Sand pile....And then there are the ones that just seem to be swallowed up, because you will never see it again
