Default Spark Plug gap

I searched this topic and found the stock info, (.6-.7mm, .023-.027in,). I would like to know if anyone has run a wider gap say .035? If so, what is the opinion? good, bad, does not make a difference?

Thanks,
Ben

Default Spark Plug gap

I myself have never gaped any of my plugs. I just open the box and put it in. I would think that most of you plugs are pregaped already. (just my two cents).

You should always check the gap to make sure the packaging wasn't manhandled and the gap changed,

Ben362 if your not running any mods I mean higher end mods stick with the gap listed for your machine. There are to many variables to include: what type of fuel you run, jetting, alivation and the list can go on, some gaps are tweeked (or Kentucky Windage) to accomidate the mods on a machine. Start off with the factory default and adjust the colors of your plugs to your liking which has nothing to do with the jetting (the jetting has to be right in the first place). as always this is just my .02¢

So your saying that plug color can change with the gap? If so, how do you know when jetting is correct?

My bike seem to run rich by looking at plug color, even with K&N, MRHP end cap and ported intake. I installed a 170 main jet when I put on the intake & the needle is in the stock location. Also, I have done the OMR carb mods. The bike runs strong. Thanks for the replies.
