is there a procedure to tightening the front swingarm bolt?

i lost both of the nuts that go to the swingarm bolt while i was riding one day, when i bought new ones they told me to tighten the outside bolt as tight as u can get it

yes James there is a precise procedure - I will email you the torque specs tomorrow, at work and no access to shop manual right now...

the procedure is to tighten the first nut to a certain torque, then back it off a certain amount. this is important to insure its all pulled together against the bushings to keep debris out but not so tight as to bind and act against the suspension. then you hold the first nut with a thin wrench and tighten the second nut against it to a certain torque basically as tight as will allow without stripping the fine threads. this locks them together so neither can come off.

do not forget the orings on the inside of each end - slip them up over the brass bushing shoulder until done tightening, then slip them down into the v-groove that is formed between the bushings and the frame. this keps water out of pivot. then grase the zerk until it starts to come out ounder the o-rings, then wipe them clean
