DS OR RAPTOR
#51
I say Dont go with the 450! Why would you take a small bore that revs to 11000rpm while you can have a raptor or ds that does the same amount of power but with less rev?The bigger bores are way more reliable!

Well i think it comes down your set up engine mods or power to weight so to speak.
I belive a well set up Raptor or DS will make good power and will get up go.
Are there many stroker Raptors Drag racing.

This reminds me of the sixties!!!
My car is faster than your car, etc.
In the early days of drag racing there was very little organization and rules.
Lightened cars with big motors were the standard at the strips.
I see the same thing with todays atv drag racing.
Who can afford the lightest frame with the biggest motor. And now allowing funny gas also.
NHRA finally woke up and realized that drag racing is by far a sport that should have rules for the masses and rules for the few. We all can't afford Funny Cars/ Top Fuelers.
When is ATV Drag Racing going to see the light.
They should have the simular rules like NHRA.
Weight X cubic inches that includes the driver.
This way the best motor builder and driver rises to the surface.
Having 80 pound drivers is crazy.
If I am going to build a drag ATV, I wish I could build it around a class that I could afford.
I have never gotten excited about a drag atv that has no rules.
My hero's are the little guys that can run fast and still drive there machine for a trail ride.
They put all there efforts into making their machine fast, wihtout an open pocket book.

I don't know but I do know that my husband on his pretty close to stock before he had his rev box 2000 DS not Baja was racing a new Raptor 700 which was also pretty close to stock on a dirt road and the Raptor only won by maybe a 1/4 of a bike length if even that he told my husband that he couldn't believe that he just wouldn't go away I do believe that with his rev limit only a little higher he would have put the whoopin on him but this is just a close to stock older DS vs. close to stock new Raptor 700 w/ EFI and it was that close I would go with the DS But I really like the DS so I guess I am a little partial. Hope you find you answer though Good luck. ( O yeah the two riders are equal in weight the guy on the raptor might have even been a little lighter so factor that in also my husbands frame is still stock.)

Official race results....4.09 at 79mph on all motor raptor in drag frame on alky. You tell me.....what DRAG BIKE to build! Im very impressed to the point of almost taking a turn to the dark side,
Im not telling who's bike it was until after this coming weekend.
Oh and did I tell ya that it was the first time out,
I wanted to drop this in for no extra offering at all....but to think I can build the same motor that run this time for about $6000 as opposed to $10,000-$12,000 for a DS motor of the same caliber....THINK ABOUT IT!

I'm not sure how the Raptor will out handle the DS other than it being a little lighter. The DS suspension is way better... I will smoke a stock suspended Raptor through the whoops every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Besides he was talking about a drag bike like Choose said. Also your experience with BRP is not the norm... YOU had a bad dealer and YOU did not fully read through your sales contract when YOU put your name on the line. I have had great experience with their customer service... I've only needed it one time when I was looking for a tie rod in short order.
Yea, whatever. BRP screwed me. As far as the Raptor or Yz450, it will win against the DS in a course. No doubt. When is the last time the DS won the GNC title? Waiting......
