DS OR RAPTOR
#32
I think we are missing the point of the original question, including myself. He asked which of the two has the most potential in Drag Racing.
Obviously when you talk drag racing you are not talking simply a modified motor but rather everything from frame construction to tires. As a STOCK out of the box all around performer I would tend to lean toward the 2006, 700 Raptor due to it nimbleness and power to weight ratio, not to mention fuel injection and reverse. Now, tack on the significantly larger base where you can get the Raptor serviced adds to the attractiveness of purchasing it.
Nevertheless, I don't think anyone, including people who own a Raptor can argue that the DS has a much stronger frame and suspension. But with that added strength come added weight. This is why all the serious drag racers make significant modifications to the frame or replace it all together.
When you punch out the motor to 800+add NOS and a turbo, replace the frame and add a drag racing swing arm, strip everything off that isn't absolutely necessary you really are not talking a DS even thou the sticker may say so. You have a complete custom drag racer with a Rotax power plant......
So in conclusion, it isn't which bike has the most potential, it's which power plant has the most drag racing potential....There is no question the Rotax has the most potential.....for now.
However with that said, keep in mind that the Japanese are one of the most forward think countries in the world and I'm sure they are already planning for the year 2010 !!

I have to say my buddies Rapter is one of the fastest bikes I have seen...... but it is a pain in the A$$ having to tow him in everytime he takes the thing to the strip it litterally tears itself apart he has close to 20 grand in this bike and it sits by the campfire and we use it for a coat rack..... He finishes the weekend on an 05 Viper go figure. On the bright side we always know where to find our coats

its not excuses, its the truth...I'm not saying that it will go faster but it would have a way better chance to compare cc to cc...Dont you think I'm right? a 855cc ds vs a 855cc raptor would be a good race? but anyway, theres no big raptor like that yet so we will have to wait till the end of the summer or w/e to know who will be the fastest!
