Outlander Spar Frame
I had under 200 hours on my outlander 800 max. After reading some of the posts, I looked underneath and found my frame to be smashed up. So much for the claims in the ads that you can virtually skid over rocks and trees. I took it in for 20 hour service, and they said no problem. So I went riding again, dipped down into a small ditch, hit a rock, and the whole front axel bent around the frame. Estimated $4400 damage. Bombardier was no help whatsoever. In my opinion, the frame is totally inadequate for this machine. Don't even think of buying one. I have pictures if anyone is interested.

Bombnomore, welcome to the site. MOST of the guys here are very helpful and respectful. However, you can expect a hard time from some of the guys here in the Bomb forum. They can get a little overly sensitive. You should have your pictures handy, you can expect to be accused of being a troll, a hater, or have your story doubted. Sorry to hear about your ride, there are alot of guys who have the Bombs and are extremely happy with them. What did you think about it before it broke? I would like to see the pics if you can load them to your personal page or post a link. Thanks for sharing. What are you going to do with it? Is that the only quad that you have to ride?

I put the skids on my 800 Max but I am really concerned about this frame breaking. Are the problems on the 400 mostly or are a lot of 800's having the same problems?
The center frame seemed pretty beefy to me. How are people using these things?
I would like to see how many have busted frames already.

The 'spar' technology is just like falling off a log - BRP's red herring to cover up the obvious, which is, frame is not protected.
Also notice they advertise 12" clearance, everybody has 8" - 9". What are they doing about it - nothing. 8" clearance not much help on a rocky trail especially for an at-risk flimsy frame. And BRP don't want to hear from you. The dealer will help with ground clearance (changing springs) if you really get after him.
Buy an Outy, buy a set of skids, replace front springs - a, b, c, 1, 2, 3 ...........Just the way it is.
