Chain tension, chain guard, if it is in fact that locale. Also, check the chain rollers.

Do you mean a clanking clickidy click sound when in high gear at low low speeds? Thats what mine did before i opened the engine up a little. I think it was the chain slapping on the guard on the swingarm....but if that isnt what you are hearing like monkeyinajar says check the roller chain tension etc.

it happens when im goin over bumps and off camber stuff, theres nothing loose, so i guess it probably is the chain slapping against the guard, do you think its something i should really worry about

Not trying to steal your thread, but while on the subject. Just how do you adjust the chain tension on a 2001 DS? Mine is terribly loose and i didnt see any obvious way to adjust it when i looked at it yesterday. Dont have the manual or any info on it.

Loosen all 4 bolts on the bottom of the swingarm....then you should have a tool like a small piece of rod that came with your tool kit...that will now slide in a hole on the rear sprocket hub and then in the side of the swingarm...You then pull back the quad to tighten the chain or push it forward to loosen...after its adjusted tighten up all the bolts and you should be good. It does tell you a more talked through method in the manual but thats basically it.

As for the sound fxrider...if its the sound im thinking of no you dont have to be worried mines done it for 2 years now.

Check your ride height... if you are too low your chain will hit the roller every time you hit a bump. It may feel better to have it lower due the poor stock steering geometry, but you may be too low... I was too low and ate up two chain rollers in one day, before I figured it out, and raised her up . You should have 4-6 ninches of sag from fully extended in the rear.

Yup, I had that sound a long time ago and replaced the chain roller. And also, when adjusting your chain, if you don't have the stock tool, you can use an allen wrench, screw driver, etc. They'll all work
