Default Problem with stock choke?

Last night I took off my paddles and put on my knobbies for an upcoming trip. I went to take for a spin around the yard, so I pulled the choke and the black **** pulled off. No big deal and I push it back on. Anyway two good wheelies in first and I go to do one in second and it falls on its face, won't even rev out or bring the front end up. I think weird and try in first again... nothing, stumbles and coughs with anything above 3000 rpms. I put it away.

So today I messing with it and notice the choke no longer has two stages, its either in or out and it has a little slop in and out. So I wiggle it and give it a good push, grab some throttle, it stubbles, another stab and it revs all the way up, take it for a spin and it runs alright., but then does it again. What is the deal, what broke on the carb?

Very **** poor design in my opinion. I would expect a choke setup like that back in the 80's. My wifes DS choke **** pulls off once an a while but it pushes back on and works fine.. Could yours be stuck on half choke?

I'm completely missing my pull ****.... I have two nuts jammed on there now. But you might want to pull the carb and check your choke circuit. Make sure nothing is broke or jammed.

Default Problem with stock choke?

I had a choke problem a while back. The black *** fell off, and then it was spitting and spuddering with no power at all. Took it in to the shop and they said my choke got stuck all the way open and fowled out the plugs. It was under warrenty, so they got a new choke on it and new plugs and runs fine so far.

the choke is a very simple little assembly - that black plastic hex nut behind the **** unscrews to allow the entire assembly to come out in one piece. take it out and you will see exactly how it works, and hopefully be able to rectify whatever went wrong. sounds the spring is not keeping the rubber tipped enricher seated, menaing the choke is staying on. if something is broken it will be apparent, and a new assembly can be ordered. you don't even have to take the carb off the bike to pull the choke assembly out.

I may have an extra one laying around, I'll look and if you find out you need one you can have it, if I have one that is.

I wouldn't even worry about it because as you know I am getting ready to order the TM, but I have a ride this weekend. I will try taking off the choke assembly tonight and see what the deal is. But if it is leaving the choke on, would that cause it to not rev out and bog past 3000 rpms? BTW, I sent Jeff an email with the list of stuff you sent me, seeing how soon he could get it to you.
