Default need some help....

so i bought a 2001 ds650 for 2500...came with a full pro circuit t-4 pipe and its suppose to be jetted, how much i dont know. tires and rimes were worn and beat to hell so i had to replace the rears, new stock rims. i had the stock original tires on it and for what riding i do i needed a more aggressive tire for mud/trail riding. no sand here! so ive had good luck with itp mudlights so i got those...only catch was the smallest they went is a 22 inch. Now im sure this will effect gearing so to get back to where i was or better what can i do? Would a smaller front sprocket be my best bet? 15 tooth? I wont need top end so im willing to sacrafice it for more torque/acceleration

Also i feel like my rear shock is sagging. while sitting on it ive got about 3 inch of play until its fully compressed.the spring is adjusted to about half way but i didnt get the wrench to adjust it. Would cranking it down help?Or can they be recharged?

Would the heavy duty clutch springs be worth anything? better launchs or anything to that effect?

Yes go with the 15 tooth it will help on tourque you lost going to the 22 inch tires also you can adjust your shock by compressing your spring you do not need to rebuild it becouse of sag this is do to spring compression. If it does not compress or rebound properly then go get it rebuilt. As for the clutch I would go with the stock cluthes and add the Ron Woods 60% springs and that would handle any power you will be throwing at it in the future.

For your springs and sprockets, go to On Dunes

I run my DS mainly for trails, I have 22inch Mud machine rear tires and run a 14T front spocket. I really like the setup and it is still higher geared than factory tires and 16T sprocket. With the factory tires and factory gearing I was always hitting the rev limiter, even with the 14T front I dont hit the rev limiter as much as the factory set up. Only thing with a 14T is if you chain is if your chain is worn you might not have much adjustment left and might have to take a link out to run it. I have ran my 14T with the factory chain for about 2 years now and still have enough room to adjust it without removing a link. I guess it just depends on how worn your chain is.

14/40 gearing is good, and I did use this for awhile. It is cheaper, as you are only changing one sprocket. However let me add this. Go with a 15/42 gearing with the 22" tires. It is only a hair higher geared, but you will gain more then you believe with the alum rear sprocket. It is 2 pounds lighter then the stock steel one. It really changes your revs alot. Just my opinion, as I have ran both and will stick with my 15/42

Thats a good point Dragon, your bike probably pulls just as hard if not harder than mine because of the 2lbs less rotating mass. Good recommendation, to bad no one gave me that before I bought my setup. I would think about changing mine, but in all honesty I dont use the majority of power the DS already has when I'm just trailriding. Now for the sand that would be a whole nother story. Plus the quickest quad I ride with is a stock KFX400 so I only need Stock power of a DS to be the fastest in my group.

With my fat butt, I need all the revs I can get. Like I said, both worked great for picking it up. And I do ride almost all sand, so it really helps there.

Also, can you post some pics of the front bumper you have listed in your sig. I would like to see what it looks like on the quad.
